We offer this course at two different levels. The first for health care assistants and the second; more advanced course for health care professionals.
ECG recognition for Health Care Assistants Course Syllabus:
- Understand the anatomy and physiology of the heart.
- To understand the principles of ECG monitoring.
- Undertake a 12-lead ECG recording theory and practical session.
- Recognising a normal ECG reading.
- Introduction to some common causes of abnormal ECG readings.
- The role of the health care worker.
- Record keeping.
- Referring to a health care professional.
- Demonstrate ECG 12-lead placement.
- Describe abnormalities.
Course length: 3 hrs
Qualification achieved: ECG recognition certificate.
Cost: £50 per person + VAT on open courses.
£50 per person (min charge of £300) + VAT for in-house courses.

ECG recognition for Health Care Professionals Course Syllabus:
- Introduction to the basics.
- Review of 12-lead ECG placement.
- 15-lead ECG placement and its purpose.
- Cardiac conduction.
- PQRST.
- The rhythm strips.
- Sinus rhythm, sinus bradycardia and tachycardia.
- Heart blocks.
- Atrial fibrillation.
- Bundle branch blocks.
- Left ventricular hypertrophy.
- Myocardial ischaemia.
- Myocardial infarction.
- Wolf Parkinson white syndrome.
- QT prolongation.
- Demonstrate 12-lead and 15-lead placements.
- Demonstrate by recognition of ECG examples, cardiac conditions.
Course length: 1 day
Qualification achieved: ECG interpretation certificate.
