Stroke Awareness

Stroke Awarenessstroke awareness

The stroke awareness course is designed to increase awareness and understanding of strokes as a medical condition.

The training covers the medical aspects of a stroke and also encourages candidates to practically experience the problems a stroke patient faces whilst dealing with their condition. Stroke patients often seem difficult to manage; one of the main aims of this course is to allow students to understand the frustration of the patient and learn to respond with empathy.

Key statistics from the Stroke.org :

  • Stroke strikes every five minutes.
  • 100,000 people have strokes each year.
  • There are 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK.

This short stroke course is designed to give a greater understanding about strokes. On completion of the course the candidate will have had practical experiences of what a stroke sufferer has to deal with on a daily basis.

  • Understand the difference between CVA and TIA.
  • Understand, recognise and treat a casualty who is potentially having a stroke.
