This qualification is designed for individuals who provide enhanced emergency care as a first responder within their role. It is suitable for those working in higher‑risk environments where responders are required to assess incidents, manage casualties and make informed decisions prior to the arrival of emergency medical services.
The qualification builds on Level 3 Emergency Care for First Responders and develops greater autonomy, responsibility and clinical judgement. Learners will cover incident management, triage, structured casualty assessment and effective handover, alongside advanced clinical skills including CPR and AED use for adults, children and infants, catastrophic bleeding control, airway and breathing management, therapeutic oxygen therapy and the management of serious medical and traumatic emergencies.
The qualification aligns with Category E of the Pre‑Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) Framework and supports safe, effective practice within a defined first responder scope.
