Medical Gases
Medical gases should only be administered by staff who are:

Competent in the administration of medical gases & basic life support.

Familiar with the side effects of medical gases & their contra-indications.

Aware of the criteria for patient selection and exclusion.
The aim of the course is to ensure:
- Medical gas is administered safely & effectively.
- To reduce the likelihood of side effects and complications.
Course length: 4 hrs
Qualification: Medical Gases Certificate
Course Syllabus:
- To give students a greater understanding of oxygen therapy.
- Understand when oxygen is contraindicated.
- Teach students about the different illnesses and diseases that could require oxygen therapy.
- The use of bag/valve and mask.
- The use of OPA (Oral Pharyngeal Airways).
- The use of an aspirator.
- The use of analgesic gas.
- Cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
Cost: £35 per person + VAT on open courses £35 per person (min charge of £280) + VAT for in-house courses
